Transparency & Accountability

Nice To Meet You Community is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 41-4993797). We are committed to using every gift responsibly to advance our mission, and to being open about how we operate and handle money.

Financial accountability

We keep our finances simple, documented, and overseen by our board:

  • We hold money in a bank account in the organization's legal name, and we never mix personal and organizational funds.
  • Our Treasurer records income and expenses in accounting software and reconciles the bank account every month.
  • Our Board of Directors approves budgets and reviews our finances at least quarterly.
  • Spending follows tiered approval rules, and larger expenses require board approval before any money moves.
  • Conflict-of-interest controls mean no one approves their own payment or votes on a transaction they are connected to.
  • Gifts given for a specific purpose are honored and tracked separately from general funds.

Financials & documents

Our IRS determination letter confirming our tax-exempt status is available here: IRS determination letter (PDF) .

As a newly recognized nonprofit, we have not yet completed a full fiscal year, so no IRS Form 990 has been filed. Once we file our first Form 990, it will be posted here and available on request.

Our Bylaws, Conflict of Interest Policy, and financial statements are available on request. Just reach out through our contact page and we will be glad to share them.

Our commitment to donors

When you give to Nice To Meet You Community, you can count on us to:

  1. Be clear about our mission and how your gift will be used.
  2. Use your donation for the purpose for which it was given.
  3. Tell you who leads the organization, and expect our board and volunteers to act with care and good judgment.
  4. Give you access to our most recent financial information.
  5. Send prompt, accurate acknowledgment and a receipt for your gift.
  6. Treat you with respect and keep your personal information confidential.
  7. Make sure anyone who asks for a gift on our behalf acts professionally and honestly.
  8. Tell you whether someone asking for a donation is a volunteer, staff member, or hired solicitor. (Today, we are run entirely by volunteers.)
  9. Remove your name from any contact list on request, and never sell your information.
  10. Welcome your questions and answer them truthfully and directly.

These commitments reflect the nonprofit sector's Donor Bill of Rights.
